Andre Harvin, PharmD, will become the first chief pharmacy officer for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) on July 21. UMMS,based in Baltimore,announced the appointment,highlighting Harvin’s experience in pharmacy services.
Harvin currently serves as chief pharmacy officer and vice president of pharmacy services at Cone Health in Greensboro, N.C. A UMMS spokesperson said Harvin will chart “a bold, visionary course for pharmacy services” across the system, emphasizing the standardization and integration of pharmacy practice.
The goal, according to the spokesperson, is to prioritize innovation, quality, safety, and patient-centered care in both current and future pharmacy operations. This strategic move aims to enhance pharmacy services and patient care throughout the UMMS network, focusing on chief pharmacy officer leadership.
Before his tenure at Cone Health starting in 2019, Harvin held positions at Fresenius Kabi, UnitedHealth Group, and wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, N.C.
