XALAPA, Veracruz, Mexico (April 30, 2025) – A dramatic rescue operation in teh Veracruz municipality of Tlapacoyan resulted in a deadly shootout, leaving one suspected kidnapper dead, five others in custody, and five police officers injured, authorities said Wednesday.
The intense confrontation unfolded during a police operation aimed at freeing a kidnapping victim. Residents of the area reported widespread anxiety due to the gunfire.
rescue Operation Turns Deadly
The events began late Tuesday and continued into early Wednesday in the Fredepo neighborhood of Tlapacoyan, the municipal capital. Agents from the State Public Security Secretariat were conducting a special operation targeting a suspected kidnapping ring.

Police Officers Wounded
