Joint Event Fosters Deeper Connections Between Students, Teachers, and Administrators

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Teikyo University Hachioji Campus hosted the Teikyo Education Association Research Exchange Study Session 2024 and the 12th OB/OG Teachers’ Meeting of 2024. This joint event aimed to strengthen the bond between students, teachers, administrators, and alumni working in the teaching profession.

Teikyo University President Yoshifumi Okinaga, also the chairman of the Teikyo Education Association, delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of combining “school practice” with “university knowledge” in innovative ways. The event was divided into two parts: the first featured reports from school administrators, mid-career teachers, and young teachers on their educational and research activities, while the second part involved group work, where participants shared experiences and offered advice.

During the group work sessions, current teachers provided guidance to students, addressing their concerns and anxieties about their future teaching careers. Participants praised the event, saying, “Exchanges with current teachers, including students from my alma mater, broadened my horizons and allowed me to contribute to the career paths of my juniors.” Students also expressed their aspirations, stating, “I will become a confident teacher who can share my experiences and thoughts, just like the seniors who spoke today.”
