Conor McGregor’s Controversial ‘Best Weekend’ in Northern Ireland Amid Civil Rape Trial

November 23, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Sports

Conor McGregor Assault Verdict

Conor McGregor faced a court case regarding allegations of assault against hair colorist Nikita Hand. The jury found that McGregor assaulted Hand at the Beacon Hotel in December 2018 and awarded her almost €250,000 in damages. Both McGregor and his associate, James Lawrence, denied the claims, stating that the encounter was consensual. However, the jury cleared Lawrence of any assault.

During the trial, McGregor admitted to having “athletic” sex with Hand after a night of partying and drug use. While he expressed emotion after the verdict, he maintained a carefree demeanor during moments with his fiancée Dee Devlin and their four children while the trial progressed.

The court heard details of the events leading up to the incident. McGregor visited a nightclub in Dublin, where he was with a group of women. After this, he contacted Hand and invited her and her friend to a hotel suite he had booked. Allegations claimed that McGregor raped Hand, a claim he denied, stating that sexual contact was consensual.

During testimony, both McGregor and other witnesses provided their accounts of the night. The defense argued that Hand was not truthful in her claims and painted McGregor’s behavior as misunderstood.

In closing arguments, Hand’s lawyer described the impact of the assault on her life, urging the jury to consider her testimony seriously. Following deliberation, the jury ultimately sided with Hand.

After the verdict, Hand expressed feelings of vindication. McGregor, who tweeted his disappointment over the verdict, indicated plans to appeal the decision.
