[시사일보=최한규 기자] On August 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a dialogue with diplomats and a tour of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2030 Advisory Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Security (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, and Ministry of Unification). This event was designed to share vivid experiences in the diplomatic field with the 2030 Youth Advisory Group members and to strengthen their capacity for policy suggestions.

First, the 2030 Advisory Group had the opportunity to tour the plaques of martyrs, copies of diplomatic records, diplomatic gifts from each country, and the UN Secretary-General’s inauguration commemorative plaque located on the second floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and to observe the spokesperson’s regular briefing.

Through the dialogue with diplomats that followed, we had time to ask questions about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ work and policies, share practical experiences and knowledge in the diplomatic field, and understand the role and function of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is expected that this event will strengthen the network between the 2030 advisory groups of each ministry and lay the foundation for cooperation.

Lee Shi-ra, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ 2030 Advisory Group and Youth Advisor, said, “The advisory group members were able to feel the difficulties and importance of the diplomatic field by talking directly with diplomats, and it was an opportunity to better understand the work and role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.” She added, “We will continue to increase these opportunities and strive to strengthen the capacity of the 2030 Advisory Group to make more realistic and in-depth policy recommendations.”

Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Security Lee Dong-ryeol and Head of the Reform Task Force Team said, “During the conversation with the 2030 Advisory Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Security, we were able to better understand what young people are curious about and what they think about the diplomatic field,” adding, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to continue to create various channels of communication with young people in the future.”
