A fire erupted at a home in the Barrio Juniors neighborhood of Córdoba, Argentina, on January 2, 2026, resulting in a 16-year-old being hospitalized with burns. The incident occurred at a residence located at 170 Dominican Republic Street.
The cause of the fire is currently under inquiry, but initial reports indicate it began in the home’s patio.
Injuries adn Medical Response
Emergency medical services urgently transported the injured teenager to the Burn Institute, where they remain hospitalized due to the severity of their injuries. A police report details the rapid response to the scene.
In addition to the teenager, an 11-year-old girl and two adults were also treated by emergency personnel at the scene, but did not require hospitalization.
Flammable Materials Contributed to Spread
The homeowner reportedly operates an air conditioning installation business, and the presence of bottles and aerosol cans within the property is believed to have accelerated the fire’s spread. These materials likely fueled the flames, complicating firefighting efforts.
