Brazilian Soccer Star Alan Garro Involved in Deadly Collision, Raising Questions About Negligent Driving

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Corinthians midfielder Alan Garro has been released from custody in Argentina following a fatal car crash that claimed teh life of a 21-year-old woman. While Garro tested positive for alcohol, authorities cited his cooperation and lack of flight risk as reasons for his release. The accident occurred in the province of La Pampa, where Garro was reportedly driving when his vehicle collided with another, resulting in the young woman’s death.

“Garro was released as he has no intention of fleeing, he is a resident of the area, and he is maintaining contact with the authorities,” Armando Agüero, the prosecutor general of La Pampa, said.

Garro has been indicted on charges of vehicular homicide, a charge that applies when a death occurs as an unavoidable result of negligent driving, even without intent to kill. He appeared in court on Sunday and provided a new statement to investigators.

While Garro’s blood alcohol content was reportedly around 0.5 grams per liter, exceeding Argentina’s zero-tolerance policy, Agüero clarified that a more serious charge would onyl be considered if the level had surpassed one gram per liter.

The Corinthians association has been in contact with Garro’s legal team and family, offering support during this difficult time. Fabinho Soldado, the club’s executive of football, and Vinícius Cascone, the director of legal affairs, have been actively involved in monitoring the situation.

The Argentine Ministry of Public Prosecution has not imposed any travel restrictions on Garro, deeming him to pose no “procedural dangers.” However, his driver’s license has been suspended pending the outcome of the examination.
