Bus Éireann Heroes Honored at National Awards Ceremony
Cork, Ireland – Bus Éireann employees from across teh country gathered for the annual GEM (‘Go the Extra Mile’) Awards, celebrating outstanding customer service, community impact, and dedication. This year, Cork shone brightly, taking home multiple awards, including the prestigious Hero Award.Janet Cooper was recognized for her commitment too employee wellbeing, earning the Wellbeing Award. Catherine Keating’s exceptional work ethic and dedication earned her the Clerical Employee of the Year Award.
But it was Austin Murphy who captured the hearts of the audience, winning the Hero Award for his quick thinking and bravery. Murphy sprang into action when a customer needed CPR, playing a crucial role in saving their life.
“Austin’s actions exemplify the very best of Bus Éireann,” said Stephen Kent, CEO of Bus Éireann. “He went above and beyond the call of duty,demonstrating incredible courage and compassion.”
the Cork-born travel assistance team, now implemented nationwide, was also honored, receiving the Diversity and Inclusivity Award for their commitment to providing accessible and welcoming service to all passengers.
Kent praised all the award winners, stating, “You inspire us all with your commitment, ingenuity, and passion for excellence. Your dedication is at the heart of what makes us a trusted and valued public transport provider.”
He added, “As we look ahead, it’s clear that the future holds both opportunities and challenges.
