A Journey of Love and Creativity at Fota Island Resort
Deana Hurley and Eric O’Leary embarked on their marital journey with a wedding that was as unique and personal as their love story. Their vision was a travel-themed celebration,a concept brought to life through Deana’s passion for creative projects and a notable amount of DIY effort. The stunning Fota Island Resort served as the backdrop for their special day, with the resort’s team, led by Roberta O’Keeffe, ensuring a seamless experience.
Crafting a Personalised Celebration
“Our vision for our big day was a travel-themed wedding. I love creative projects, so I DIYed as much as I could,” shares Deana, highlighting her hands-on approach to personalizing their celebration. The exquisite floral décor was masterfully crafted by Elizabeth Cott of Wonderous Weddings, adding a touch of natural beauty to the travel-inspired theme.
A Day of Delight and Surprises
The couple’s guests were thoroughly entertained by magician and MC Jamie Skelton, who proved to be “a huge hit.” Deana looked radiant in a custom-designed dress by Mizz Rio, Dublin. In a delightful twist, she surprised herself and her guests by opting for an ivory gown, a departure from her initial inclination for black. Bridal hairstyling was expertly handled by Kim Moynihan (Hair by Kim), while Aneta Winnicka took care of the makeup. Eric and his groomsmen looked dapper in suits sourced from Suits.ie, Ballycurreen.
Dancing the Night Away
The atmosphere was electric with music from The Danny O’Leary band and DJ Bertie, who kept the dance floor buzzing. Deana, a true enthusiast of country music, was touched by a surprise video message from her favourite singer, Derek Ryan, presented by her sister Clodagh. Despite her energetic dancing, which resulted in two sprained Achilles tendons, Deana declared, “Every second was worth it.”
A future of adventures
Deana, a project manager with GlobalMeet, and Eric, a healthcare assistant with Cope Foundation, are now looking forward to their honeymoon in South Africa, scheduled for October.
