Carrigaline House Fire: Emergency services Respond to Hillview Estate Blaze

At least two homes in the Hillview estate, Upper Kilmoney, Carrigaline, sustained damage following a notable fire on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services responded swiftly, preventing the blaze from spreading to a third property despite challenging conditions. No injuries where reported.
Rapid Response from Multiple Fire Crews
Cork County Fire units from Carrigaline, Crosshaven, and Midleton, alongside Cork City Fire Service, were dispatched to the scene after the initial call at 12.36pm. The fire, which originated outdoors, quickly escalated, necessitating additional resources and water tankers.Carrigaline Station Chief Fire Officer, Chris Gledhill, highlighted the intensity of the firefighting efforts. “All crews here put in serious, serious work to fight this fire with the elements of the wind and lack of water to extinguish this fire,” he stated. As of Sunday evening,crews from Carrigaline and Crosshaven remained on site to ensure complete extinguishment and prevent any potential flare-ups.
Community and Political Reaction
Local representatives expressed their support for those affected and praised the professionalism of the emergency services.
carrigaline-based County Councillor Jack White (Fine Gael) stated,”My thoughts are with all those affected by the horrendous fire in Hillview,Carrigaline today. Thank you to the Emergency Services who have responded so professionally in very difficult circumstances.”
Councillor Úna mccarthy, also representing Carrigaline (Fine Gael), who visited the scene, described the situation as “devastating.” She added,”The wind directions made conditions extremely difficult to contain and my thoughts are with the families affected. I wont to pay tribute to the firefighters from Carrigaline, Crosshaven, Midleton, and Cork City, whose bravery prevented the fire from reaching a third home.I have no doubt that the Hillview and Carrigaline communities will rally together to support the families during this difficult time.”
Fianna Fáil TD for Cork South-Central, Seamus McGrath, also acknowledged the swift response. ”Thanks to Carrigaline Fire & Rescue and other crews for attending to the serious fire in Carrigaline earlier today. Thankfully, it truly seems that there were no injuries involved, but regrettably significant damage to the properties.My thoughts are with those impacted with their homes damaged. thanks again to all the emergency services involved.”
