Stella Gallagher, 59, died following a stabbing incident at her home in Shrewsbury Downs, Ballinlough, Cork, on Monday night, November 18, 2025. Gardaí (Irish police) are currently conducting a murder investigation.
Details of the Attack
At approximately 9:00 PM on Monday, emergency services where alerted by concerned neighbors who witnessed Stella Gallagher and her husband, Brian Gallagher, 62, fleeing their residence onto the street. Both individuals had sustained multiple stab wounds inflicted by a pursuing male suspect. The incident occurred approximately 3 kilometers from Cork city center.
medical Response and Current Status
Paramedics provided nearly an hour of on-site medical intervention to Stella gallagher before transporting her to Cork University Hospital. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital before midnight. Brian Gallagher underwent emergency surgery at Cork University Hospital on Monday night and remains in serious but stable condition as of today, November 19, 2025.
Suspect in Custody
A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a Garda station in Cork city, where he is undergoing questioning. Authorities have not yet released the suspectS name.
