Acquisition details

Pasteur Labs, a developer of artificial intelligence-driven physics simulation tools, has acquired FOSAI, an aerospace and defense technology company. The acquisition, announced by Pasteur labs on September 12, 2025, aims to accelerate the adoption of AI-driven physics simulation for space and defense applications.

FOSAI, led by CEO Gregory Falco, an assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Cornell University, specializes in plug-and-play architectures and data services for space vehicles and other mission-critical systems. The company has previously collaborated with the U.S. Space Force, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and commercial aerospace firms.

Pasteur Labs, founded by Alexander Lavin, is preparing to publicly launch its “Simulation Intelligence Platform” in 2025. The company’s team comprises experts from NASA, tesla, Nvidia, and Ansys.

Cornell University’s Role in FOSAI’s Development

While founded prior to his tenure at Cornell, Gregory Falco credits the university’s ecosystem as crucial to FOSAI’s evolution. The company received support from Cornell’s New York State Consortium for Space Technology, which facilitates the transfer of space capabilities from New York state to the U.S. Department of Defense. FOSAI was also an active collaborator on projects at the Cornell-led Air Force Research Laboratory Mid-Atlantic Hub.

The Synergy of AI and Physics Simulation

“The future of autonomous systems in sectors like aerospace and defense depends on our ability to model multi-scale phenomena and their cause-effect mechanisms with unprecedented accuracy and speed,” said Falco. “pasteur Labs’ approach to combining AI with physics simulation creates exactly the kind of foundation our most demanding applications require.”

The acquisition merges FOSAI’s expertise in defense and aerospace with Pasteur’s Simulation Intelligence platform, potentially accelerating research and development across aerospace, automotive, and energy sectors.

Statements from Leadership

Alexander Lavin, founder of Pasteur Labs, stated, “This represents a natural evolution of our mission to bridge the gap between breakthrough simulation-based R&D and real-world impact. FOSAI’s deep expertise in dual-use software systems integration, combined with their proven ability to deliver mission-critical solutions, gives us the pathway to deploy our Simulation Intelligence platform where it can create the most value: in domains that demand both cutting-edge innovation and unwavering reliability.”

Falco expressed his satisfaction with finding a home for FOSAI where it can promptly contribute. “Pasteur provides a strong foundation for our team and technology to continue building on top of, where we can serve an underserved need in aerospace – simulation testing,” he said.
