Coronavirus Cases on the Rise in Istanbul

ANKARA (Zaman Turki) – A Turkish doctor warns that 4 out of 5 people with influenza symptoms in Istanbul are infected with the coronavirus.

Internal medicine physician Dr. Muslim Sango reports a surge in coronavirus cases, stating, “The COVID-19 epidemic is not over, and we’ve seen a sharp increase in influenza symptoms since August 15. 4 out of every 5 patients who came with complaints of influenza were corona positive.”

With the start of the new school year, Dr. Sango notes that the seasonal influenza season has begun. “Our kids spend time in crowded environments at school, and when one friend gets the flu, the whole school gets the flu. This cycle affects every part of society.” He recommends wearing medical masks in environments where people interact and are together.

Dr. Sango advises individuals suffering from influenza, colds, and sore throats to wear a mask and seek medical attention. “Patients with these complaints should visit the nearest health institution for examination. While the deadly impact of COVID-19 has decreased significantly over the years, the risk still exists, especially for elderly patients, those with weakened immune systems, and those suffering from chronic diseases.”
