Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Urges Government to Combat COVID-19 Spread

Jeonnam Provincial Assembly‍ member Park ⁤Won-jong (Democratic Party of Korea, Yeonggwang 1) called on⁢ the government to take swift and active measures to combat the spread‌ of ⁤COVID-19 at⁣ the 384th extraordinary session plenary session.

According to Rep. Park, the ⁢use of coronavirus treatment drugs has increased significantly,⁤ from 1,272 doses in the fourth week of June to 42,000 doses in the fifth week of July, a staggering 33-fold ⁢increase.

Furthermore, concerns⁣ have been‌ raised about the possibility ‍of a medical crisis,⁣ such as a ⁤surge in emergency room‌ visits, as the⁢ number ⁢of hospitalized patients has increased from 148 ⁤in the second week of July to 1,357 in just one month.

With the ‍economic outlook looking bleak due ⁣to high inflation, high oil prices, and ‌high exchange rates, small business owners and the self-employed are taking matters into their own hands, but ‍the government’s measures are‍ deemed inadequate.

Rep. Park emphasized the need for the government to guarantee the people’s right to health, as stated in the Constitution, and to⁢ quickly prepare systematic measures to ⁢address⁢ the resurgence ⁢of COVID-19. “The public’s anxiety is growing due to the promotion ⁣of medical reform,” he said. “We ‌need to act swiftly to alleviate these concerns.”
