Corporate Card Controversy: Kim Hye-kyung to Face Prosecutors’ Grilling Today

Kim Hye-kyung‌ Summoned⁤ for‌ Questioning Over Misuse of Gyeonggi Province⁣ Corporate‌ Cards

Kim Hye-kyung, the‌ wife of Democratic Party of Korea leader Lee⁣ Jae-myung, is set to appear at the prosecution today for questioning in relation to suspicions of misuse of Gyeonggi Province⁢ corporate cards.

The Suwon District Prosecutors’ ‍Office will summon Kim Hye-kyung for questioning⁢ as a suspect this afternoon. The summons is part of an investigation into allegations that Kim and her ⁢husband,⁣ then-governor Lee⁣ Jae-myung, ‍misused ‍Gyeonggi-do’s budget for personal‌ use‌ between 2018‍ and 2019.

According ​to⁤ the allegations, the‍ couple‌ had provincial⁢ government ⁣special service ⁤officials, including Bae, pay for​ personal food‌ expenses using Gyeonggi-do corporate ⁢cards.‌ This misuse of corporate cards is at the center of the prosecution’s investigation.

The prosecution⁣ has notified⁣ Kim of the summons,‌ explaining that it is an​ opportunity for her ‌to ⁢hear the charges brought against her and provide a statement through‍ normal investigative‍ procedures based on the Criminal Procedure Act.
