On Sept. 27, 2026, Florence turns a shade of cyclamen as thousands of participants gather for the 24th edition of Corri la Vita, an event combining sport, culture, and solidarity to support breast cancer prevention and treatment. Organized by the Associazione Corri la Vita ETS, the day features a running and walking route starting at 9:15 a.m. from the Parco delle Cascine, with a finish line set in Piazza Signoria beneath the Loggia dei Lanzi, accompanied by official starter Claudio Stecchi, the Italian indoor pole vault record holder.
Routes, Starters, and Citywide Participation
Participants in the 2026 manifestation wear the official Ferragamo t-shirt, rendered this year in a distinct cyclamen hue. Florence Mayor Sara Funaro highlights the deep community involvement surrounding the event, noting that thousands of people come together to walk, run, and offer a collective embrace to women facing breast cancer. The course departs from viale Lincoln along the Arno River inside Parco delle Cascine, offering a lengthened layout for athletes this year, with a Toyota RAV4 serving as the official lead vehicle.
Cultural Access and Beneficiaries of Funds
Wearing the official t-shirt or showing registration credentials grants participants free entry to more than 68 cultural locations across Florence, the metropolitan city, and other Tuscan areas. Newly added sites include Palazzo Strozzi with its exhibition Broken. The Power of the Fragment, Palazzo Buontalenti, the Sant’Orsola Museum, the Oratorio di San Sebastiano dei Bini, the former convent of San Giovanni della Calza, and the Anconella water purification plant, alongside regional spots like the Centro Pecci in Prato and the Museo della Paglia in Signa. Since its inception in 2003, Corri la Vita has attracted over 580,000 participants and raised more than €10.2 million, contributing to the care of over 500,000 women. Funds raised from this year’s edition will bolster diagnostics at Careggi, support the Ce.Ri.On. center at Villa delle Rose, fund young medical fellowships through SenoNetwork, aid the Fondazione Italiana di Leniterapia, and launch an expanded national grant program.
