Sue Cleaver Teases Possible Coronation Street Return

After 25 years on Coronation Street, Sue Cleaver, who played Eileen Grimshaw, recently departed Weatherfield. Though, Cleaver hinted at a potential return to the ITV soap during an appearance on Loose Women.

Cleaver’s character, Eileen Grimshaw, became a beloved figure on the street after arriving 25 years ago. Her ⁣recent exit involved leaving for Thailand with her son, Jason Grimshaw, after emotional storylines ⁢including the ‍death of her⁢ sister, Julie Carp, and the breakdown of⁣ her relationship‍ with George Shuttleworth.

Cleaver initially announced her departure earlier ‍this year, stating her desire to embrace change as she turned 60.She emphasized that the door remains open for her⁤ return to Coronation Street.

The actress revealed ‍that she specifically requested Jason’s⁤ return to facilitate her character’s exit, expressing a preference⁣ against being ⁣killed off. She wanted eileen to start a new life and reinvent herself.

Cleaver expressed gratitude for her time ⁢on Coronation Street, highlighting the show’s family-like atmosphere and the opportunity it provided to raise her ⁣son while working. She emphasized her ‍willingness to return if⁢ a storyline involving her other son, Todd, such as a wedding, required her presence.

“My heart has always been there.I have so much to be grateful for… I’ve had the best time, I’ve worked with some incredible peopel there… So, yeah. I mean, who⁣ knows? If Todd gets married or whatever and they want⁢ mum to be⁣ brought back I’ll come back,” Cleaver said.
