emma Gregson, wife of “Coronation Street” star Simon Gregson, announced she is leaving Morley Tearooms, the popular cafe she has operated for two and a half years. The proclamation prompted an outpouring of support from fans of the tearoom and Gregson’s homemade cakes.
Gregson took over the Morley Tearooms, located near Wilmslow, in October 2022, fulfilling a lifelong dream. The cafe quickly gained a following, with lines often forming outside on weekends. Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald on “Coronation Street,” has frequently been seen supporting his wife at the venue.
Under Emma Gregson’s management, the Morley Tearooms secured two Good Food awards and garnered positive reviews from both customers and critics. News of her departure led to numerous messages of support.
In response to the messages, Emma Gregson posted, “Wow!!!! Just Wow!!!!! What a reaction to my news…. totally overwhelmed with all the love… I can not wait to continue our journey…… what a family/community we’ve all created. No-one could ever take that away.”
Morley Nurseries, the tearoom’s owners, clarified that the tearooms are not closing permanently. Rather, they will temporarily close from July 2-12 for refurbishment and will reopen under new management on July 12.
