Corruption Probe Expands Beyond Yaqut-Gus Alex in Haji Quota Scandal
Jakarta - Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named former religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and his former special staffer, Ishfah Abidal Aziz, as suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the 2024 hajj quota. The KPK indicated the possibility of additional suspects.
“We’ll wait and see how things develop. Right now, investigators are focusing on the two individuals already named as suspects,” KPK Chairman Budi said Saturday when asked about the potential for others to be charged in the case.

“The KPK has named two suspects, Mr. YCQ and Mr. IAA. The investigation will continue to progress, as investigators are still awaiting the final loss calculation from the BPK,” he said.
