Report Findings and Recommendations
The report identifies several factors contributing to the increase, including heightened political tensions and the spread of misinformation online. It also notes that many incidents occurred during or immediately after protests related to the conflict in the Middle East. The report recommends the following:
- Enhanced training for faculty, staff, and students on identifying and responding to antisemitism.
- Improved reporting mechanisms for antisemitic incidents.
- Increased collaboration between campus law enforcement and Jewish student organizations.
- Strengthened policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reported a 388% increase in antisemitic incidents in the U.S. following the October 7, 2023, hamas attack on Israel, according to a report released October 24, 2023. The ADL’s data covers the period from october 7-23, 2023, and shows a significant rise in both online and offline incidents.
