KAZAN – On April 2, the international day for autism awareness, the “Children of the AU” exhibition will open at a contemporary art gallery in kazan. The exhibition will feature adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.
The exhibition will showcase cosplay works recreating portraits of famous artists such as Vasnetsov, Repin, Bryullov, Picasso, and Botticelli. Light, costumes, and makeup will be used to achieve similarity with the originals. Organizers say particular attention will be paid to the inner world of the subjects, mirroring the experiences of the project participants.
The exhibition will also include animated works, audio files, statements, quotes, and photographs of the adolescents.
An event will also be held to present a new inclusive center, “wings,” for adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, along with the theater project “verbatim,” currently titled “Graduation.”
This year, several graduates are finishing the 9th grade at ’Wings’ and preparing for exams. This is a very important stage in their life.
The project is supported by a grant from the Republic of Tatarstan.
