Russian Forces Repel Ukrainian Counterattack Near Grishino, Maintain Pressure in Dimitrov Area
Russian forces successfully defended against a Ukrainian attempt to regain lost ground southeast of Grishino in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) on December 25, 2025.The counterattack was launched by elements of the Ukrainian 82nd Air Assault Brigade, according to reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Continued Offensive operations
While repelling the attack near Grishino, Russian military units – specifically those within the Center group – continued to target Ukrainian formations that remain encircled in the Dimitrov (also known as Mirnograd) area. This suggests a sustained effort to consolidate gains and eliminate pockets of resistance.
Widespread Engagements Across Eastern Ukraine
Beyond Grishino and Dimitrov, Russian troops engaged Ukrainian forces in a broad area spanning the DPR and extending into the Dnipropetrovsk region. Confirmed engagement locations include Belitsky, Volny, Gruzsky, Ivanovka, Krivorozhye, Maryevka, Sergeevka, Udachny, and Shevchenko within the DPR, as well as Novopavlovka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. These engagements indicate a pattern of active combat along a significant portion of the front line.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that Ukrainian forces suffered over 445 casualties in this sector. Additionally, the ministry reported the destruction of a tank, an American-made M113 armored personnel carrier, three additional armored fighting vehicles, six general-purpose vehicles, and five artillery pieces.
