Sam Curran’s impressive batting performance steered Surrey to a draw against Essex in thier County Championship match at the Kia oval. Curran, making his first red-ball appearance sence last September, added 77 runs to his first-innings score of 70. His effort was crucial as Surrey finished on 289-7 on a rain-affected final day.
Curran’s 121-ball innings held Surrey’s batting together, countering threats from Essex’s Jamie Porter and Simon Harmer. multiple rain delays, though brief, reduced the day’s play by 20 overs, hindering Essex’s push for victory. A 51-run partnership between Jamie Overton and Jordan Clark ultimately proved decisive for Surrey.
