Irish Dominate Dublin Horse Show Ahead of Aga Khan Nations Cup

Ireland’s show jumping team is riding high after a dominant showing at the 2025 Dublin horse Show, securing multiple victories and building momentum ahead of Friday’s prestigious Aga khan Nations Cup.With home advantage and a fervent crowd behind them, the Irish riders are poised to challenge for their 25th Aga Khan title.
Coyle and Wachman Shine in international Competitions
Derry’s Jordan Coyle continued his winning streak,claiming his second victory in as many days with a stunning performance in the Cashel Palace Hotel Stakes.Aboard the 14-year-old gelding Chaccolino, Coyle navigated a challenging jump-off to secure the win in 37.19 seconds. The competition was fierce, with American world number eight McLain Ward and Imperial HBF finishing a close second in 38.56 seconds, and Brazil’s Rodrigo Pessoa taking third with Major Tom.
Earlier in the day, Tipperary’s Tom Wachman warmed up for the aga Khan with a decisive victory in the Anglesea Speed Stakes. Riding the nine-year-old mare Hawaii, Wachman blazed through the course in 69.51 seconds, narrowly beating Switzerland’s Bryan Balsiger (69.65 seconds) and Denis Lynch (70.10 seconds).
Irish riders Secure Four Wins in Five International Events
These victories contribute to an impressive run for Irish riders, who have now won four of the five international competitions held so far at the Dublin Horse Show. This strong performance has instilled confidence within the team as thay prepare for the Nations Cup.
“It’s a home show, with a big crowd here, and everyone’s supporting the irish,” said Wachman. “You meet a lot of people you mightn’t see all year, but you meet them in dublin-that’s how it has always been since I started coming here.It’s a special week, and I always look forward to it.”
Aga Khan Nations Cup Line-up and Team Selection
Ireland will be the fifth team to jump in the Nations cup of Ireland, following the Netherlands, Canada, Germany, and Switzerland. They will be followed by Great Britain, Mexico, and defending champions USA.

For Tom Wachman, this year’s Aga khan appearance holds particular significance. It marks a decade as his first jump in the Ballsbridge arena, a 12.2 pony competition in 2015. Reflecting on his early experiences, Wachman remembers, “That’s probably my first real memory. it’s a great class, always scheduled after the Aga Khan. There’s usually a good crowd for it, and it’s very fast and competitive.”
Looking Ahead to Friday’s Competition
Ireland’s last Aga Khan win came in 2022, and the team is eager to reclaim the trophy on home soil. the competition is scheduled to begin at 3pm on Friday afternoon,with live coverage on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player starting at 1.45pm. Fans are expected to turn out in force to support the Irish team as they strive for their 25th Aga Khan victory.
