Office worker Kang Yun-ho (42) had been sleeping on a cool summer cooling pad and blanket until mid-month due to the unusually long heat wave, but since last week, when the weather started to get chilly in the mornings and evenings, he bought a new blanket for fall and winter and is using it. Kang said, “I have severe rhinitis and allergies, so I cleaned out a 10-year-old blanket that was sitting in the closet and am using a new gray blanket made of natural materials. I am satisfied because it seems to be well-ventilated and does not irritate my skin.”

As the unusually long late summer heat gradually subsides, the bedding industry is in the midst of a fall/winter customer war. The fall peak season, which directly affects sales in the second half of the year, is shorter than usual, and with the worst cold wave ever predicted for this winter, new bedding products suitable for fall and winter are being released.

According to the bedding industry on the 26th, major domestic bedding small and medium-sized companies, including Allerman, Evezary, and Welcron, have released dozens of new bedding products suitable for fall and winter.

Allerman has more than doubled its new product lineup from last fall and winter, introducing a total of 25 new patterned bedding products. In order to ease the burden on consumers, it has also expanded its mid- to low-priced goose product line, which is interpreted as a strategy to respond to the shortened fall peak season.

According to Allerman, the new fall/winter products were inspired by ‘Peach Fuzz’, which was selected as the ‘Color of the Year’ by Pantone, the global color research institute in the U.S. Peach Fuzz is a soft peach color like velvet, and contains the meaning of enriching the body and soul. An Allerman official explained, “We harmonized neutral colors that express warmth and heaviness together with natural patterns and curves,” and “We focused on providing a softer and more comfortable sleeping experience in the cooler weather.” Allerman is also focusing on attracting consumers by expanding the release of mid- to low-priced goose product lines compared to previous years.

Evezary actively utilized natural materials such as natural hanji and wool to launch around 50 new fall/winter products. The 50 or so products, including Truth, Florae, and Obni, are characterized by soft colors, textures, and patterns inspired by the beauty of nature.

Evezari focuses on developing natural bedding through its own design research institute. The institute’s principle is to induce healthy sleep through the unique performance of natural materials.

According to Evezary, the new Florae bedding is made of modal extracted from beech trees and cotton, which makes it soft to the touch for a long time and has vivid colors. Aesthetically, it is evaluated as creating an elegant bedroom atmosphere with orange lilies and green leaves expressed as if painted with watercolor techniques. Trus, a bedding made of Hanji fiber from mulberry trees, is also popular with consumers with sensitive skin because it has excellent antibacterial properties, breathability, and less skin irritation.

Welcron, which owns the Sesasa and Sesari Living brands, also entered the competition by introducing around 30 types of fall/winter bedding. Representative new products include ‘Marni’, which is excellent for preventing allergies by blending soft cotton and sturdy polyester, ‘The Basic’, which emphasizes restraint in beige, and ‘The Way’, which is a warm and heavy greige color and has a single-layer wing style.
