CPAC Conferences Highlight Transatlantic Conservative Alliance
Conservative Political Action conference (CPAC) recently convened international gatherings in poland and Hungary, underscoring a strengthening transatlantic conservative alliance. The events drew MAGA influencers and right-wing leaders, signaling a unified front between the Trump wing and Europe’s populist conservative movement.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán delivered the keynote address at the Budapest CPAC, celebrating what he termed the “Trump tsunami.” A video message from former President Trump praised orbán as a “great man.”
The Budapest event also featured Alice Weidel, leader of Germany’s far-right AFD party; Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV); and former U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss, alongside American social media personalities Ben Shapiro and Jack Posobiec.

In Jasionka, Poland, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem delivered the keynote address. CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp characterized these gatherings as “friendship building and diplomacy.”
Poland hosted CPAC for the first time, while Budapest marked its fourth consecutive year, highlighting the deepening ties between MAGA Republicans and Hungary’s ruling Fidesz Party. Some American conservatives view hungary and Orbán as a model for governance.
Schlapp noted the impact of Hungarian and Trump policies on border control and immigration, saying, “It’s certainly between Orbán and Trump, that have normalized this idea that you don’t just have to take an unspecific numbers of illegal migrants as some global institution tells you that you must.”
A growing alliance on the right
These conferences occur amid existing tensions between President Trump and conventional European allies.
At the Poland CPAC event,DHS Secretary Noem urged Poles to vote for right-wing presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki in the upcoming election against Rafał Trzaskowski, the mayor of Warsaw. “I have watched over the years as socialists, and people who are just like this mayor of Warsaw, who is an absolute trainwreck of a leader, have destroyed our countries,” Noem said.

The State Department also signaled a shift in priorities in its European alliances. A recent blog post emphasized concerns about “the suppression of speech, facilitation of mass migration, targeting of religious expression, and undermining of electoral choice.”
CPAC Budapest’s website described the event as the “hub” of the “Age of the Patriots of Western Civilization,” following “the triumph of Donald Trump and the rise of the European Right.”
Schlapp said he anticipates further global expansion of the conference, wiht plans for events in Australia,Japan,Brazil,Mexico,Colombia, and el Salvador.
What’s next
CPAC’s expansion plans signal a continued effort to foster and solidify the transatlantic conservative alliance, possibly influencing political landscapes worldwide.
