Central Philippine University (CPU) is making a tangible difference in the lives of students across Iloilo⁤ Province through ⁤its flagship outreach ⁤initiative, Project ETC (Education, Technology and⁤ Community). Recently, on July 8-9, 2025, Project ETC successfully delivered a month’s worth of vital feeding supplies to its adopted schools, directly addressing the critical ⁣issue ‍of student malnutrition and its impact on⁣ academic success.

Addressing Hunger to Fuel⁤ Learning

The core of Project ETC’s mission is to provide ⁢holistic support to communities, and recognizing the link between⁣ nutrition and education is paramount. Many students in the adopted schools ⁢face challenges with food security, leading to undernutrition, particularly⁢ among those identified as severely wasted or wasted through health assessments. This initiative directly combats these challenges by providing ‍essential carbohydrate-rich staples, ensuring students have the energy and focus needed to thrive ⁤in the classroom.

Impact of Nutritional Support

Improving a student’s nutritional status⁣ isn’t simply ⁤about physical health; it’s about unlocking their full potential. Adequate nutrition is directly correlated with:

Enhanced Academic Performance: Well-nourished students ⁤demonstrate improved cognitive function ‍and learning capabilities.
Increased Classroom Participation: When hunger isn’t a ⁤distraction, students are more engaged and‍ active in their⁤ learning.
* Improved Attendance: Addressing health concerns related to malnutrition reduces absenteeism and keeps students in school.

Project ⁤ETC: A Collaborative Effort

The successful delivery of these crucial supplies ‍was⁤ a testament to the dedication and collaborative spirit of many individuals. Ms.Joan Castor, Project ETC’s Logistics Coordinator, spearheaded the entire operation. ⁣Her responsibilities included‍ meticulous budget management, the development of nutritious and affordable meal plans, equitable allocation of supplies based on student population, and ensuring timely and efficient ‍delivery to each school.

The initiative also⁤ highlighted the strong partnership between CPU and the ⁤principals and teachers of the adopted schools, such as Iloilo⁣ River Plains Integrated ⁤school. This collaborative approach ensures the feeding program is effectively ⁤implemented and tailored to the specific needs of each⁢ community. A moment capturing this partnership was shared with Ms.Castor alongside ⁣the dedicated staff of ‍iloilo River Plains Integrated School.

Lasting Support and Community Engagement

Project ETC’s commitment extends beyond simply providing food. The program aims to foster sustainable improvements in the nutritional well-being of students. ⁤By addressing immediate hunger⁣ needs, ⁣CPU Project ETC is ⁤laying the groundwork for a more inclusive ‍and equitable educational environment where every child has the chance ⁢to succeed.⁢ This initiative reinforces⁤ the belief ‍that a healthy start is‍ fundamental to a brighter future, and that ⁤no student should ‍be held back by the challenges⁤ of hunger⁢ and malnutrition.
