One Egg Charity Project Nourishes Rural Children’s Growth
The “One Egg” public welfare project has been supporting rural kindergartens in Nujiang Prefecture, Zhaotong City, Shangri-La City, Zhenxiong County, Heqing County, and other areas since the new semester started on September 1st.
The project provides 277 rural kindergartens with eggs, benefiting 27,801 preschool children who can eat an egg every school day to supplement their nutrition.
The “One Egg” project was initiated in 2010 by the Shanghai Lianquan Public Welfare Foundation and domestic public welfare organizations. By providing rural children with an egg every school day, the project helps improve malnutrition and other problems among preschool children in rural areas of central and western China.
Since 2018, Yunnan Sunshine Community Development Center has supported 20 social organizations to implement the project in 25 districts and counties in 9 prefectures and cities. According to statistics, from 2018 to 2023, 10,932,544 eggs were provided to 307 rural kindergartens and primary schools, benefiting 79,788 children.

The project has been implemented for many years in Lushui City, Shangri-La City, Zhenxiong County, Heqing County, Ninglang County, and other places, providing nutrition and care for rural children. Ninglang County, Lijiang City, was the first implementation area of the project in the country, and the first batch of children who benefited from it have now entered junior high school.
The children who benefited from the project expressed their gratitude and said they will also actively participate in public welfare in the future, pass on the love, and illuminate more hearts in need of care.
