Jacques Moretti, co-owner of the bar that burned down in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana on New Year’s Eve, has been placed in pre-trial detention for three months. A court in the canton of Valais ordered the detention Monday, according to a source close to the matter.
The public prosecutor of Valais requested the detention Friday following a more than six-hour hearing. Moretti is implicated in the investigation into the fire, which killed 40 people and injured 116.
Thirty-four of the 40 victims died in the stairwells, RTL reported earlier this week.
