Omaha, NE - The Creighton Bluejays volleyball team pulled off a stunning upset Thursday night, defeating the No. 2 seeded Texas Longhorns in a five-set thriller to advance to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. The electric atmosphere at D.J. Sokol Arena saw the Bluejays overcome a two-set deficit to secure a 25-27, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-13 victory.
“This team showed incredible resilience tonight,” said Creighton head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth. “We knew Texas was a formidable opponent, but our girls never gave up. They fought for every point and earned this victory.”
The Longhorns, who entered the match with a 27-2 record, dominated the first two sets, showcasing their powerful offense and stifling defense. “We knew we had to make some adjustments,” Davis said. “Texas was playing great, but we started to find our rhythm and trust each othre on the court.”
