Paris, France – Consumers are being urged to exercise extreme caution and check their refrigerators immediately, as several batches of crème fraîche sold at Intermarché stores have been recalled due to a potential risk of botulism. this rare but serious neurological illness can be life-threatening and is most commonly associated with the consumption of contaminated food.
Understanding the Dangers of Botulism
Botulism is a severe illness caused by toxins produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. While rare, its consequences can be devastating. Intermarché Brand “Pâturages” Crème Fraîche
Two varieties of crème fraîche from Intermarché’s own brand, “Pâturages,” are subject to this recall:
“Pâturages” Crème fraîche Épaisse Entière 30% MG (Full-fat thick crème fraîche with 30% fat): Sold in 45-centilitre jars.
“Pâturages” Crème Fraîche Épaisse Légère 15% MG (Light thick crème fraîche with 15% fat): Sold in 20-centilitre jars.
These products were distributed in intermarché stores located in the Brittany region (Ille-et-Villaine, Morbihan, Finistère, Côtes-d’Armor) and in Loire-Atlantique. The affected batches have the following “Consommation Limite de Vente” (CLV) or best-before dates:
August 8, 2025, for the 45 cl jar.
August 3, 2025, for the 20 cl jar.
The recall notice specifies that these products were manufactured by the Saint-Père dairy.
“Merci” Brand Crème Fraîche Recalled Nationwide
In addition to the “Pâturages” brand products, a specific crème fraîche from the “Merci” brand has also been recalled. This product, also manufactured by the Saint-Père dairy, was marketed across all Intermarché stores throughout France.

The best-before date for this recalled batch is August 7, 2025. It was available for purchase between July 16 and July 19, 2025.
