The Western Australian Cricket Association has confirmed the WA men’s squad for the 2026-27 season. The roster is comprised of 19 players on the primary list, four rookies, and three players who hold national contracts with Cricket Australia.

National Contract Integration
The WA squad’s composition is influenced by the broader national landscape, as Cricket Australia announced its 21-player men’s contract list on April 1, 2026. The national contracts are governed by a Memorandum of Understanding between Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketerโs Association, which allows between 20 and 24 male players to be contracted at the start of each year.

Based on the national list released on April 1, 2026, the Western Australian players currently holding national contracts include:
- Cameron Green (Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club)
- Josh Inglis (Joondalup Cricket Club)
- Mitchell Marsh (Fremantle Cricket Club)
Cricket Australia Contract Shifts
The 2026-27 national contract cycle saw a reduction in the total number of contracted players from 23 down to 21. This adjustment was made to facilitate larger deals for key players, including captain Pat Cummins and Travis Head.
The updated national list introduced several new faces and elevations. Test opener Jake Weatherald received his maiden national contract, while Michael Neser, Brendan Doggett, and off-spinner Todd Murphy were elevated to central contracts.
Conversely, several players were removed from the national list. Glenn Maxwell, who retired from ODI cricket in 2025, and Matt Short were both cut. Other players who lost their contracts include injured fast bowler Lance Morris, retired Test batter Usman Khawaja, and Sam Konstas.
Upcoming International Schedule
The 2026-27 season is characterized by a demanding Test cricket calendar. Australia’s schedule begins in August with a two-match home series against Bangladesh.
In September and October, the national team will tour Zimbabwe for three ODIs and South Africa for three ODIs and three Test matches. This marks the first red-ball tour of South Africa since the Sandpapergate incident.
Following these tours and a home white-ball series against England, Australia will enter a concentrated period of ten Test matches over 14 weeks. This stretch includes four home Tests against New Zealand, five away Tests in India to compete for the Border Gavaskar Trophy, and the 150th Anniversary Test against England at the MCG.
The year will conclude with an away Ashes tour, contributing to a total of 20 Tests played within a 12-month window.
