Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu has stated he is prepared to resign from his coaching position if he finds himself forced to compromise his authenticity or suppress his true self.

Chivu, who has successfully led Inter Milan to Serie A and Coppa Italia titles in the 2025/26 season, shared his perspective during an appearance on the Cronache di Spogliatoio podcast. He expressed a clear boundary regarding his career longevity, noting that his commitment to coaching is contingent upon maintaining his personal integrity and intellectual curiosity.

Chivu’s Stance on Professional Authenticity

The current Inter Milan manager explained that the football industry often pressures individuals to alter their behavior, a trend he finds difficult to accept. For Chivu, the moment he feels compelled to act in a way that contradicts his natural disposition is the moment he will choose to walk away from the dugout.

Chivu clarified that he does not view coaching as a permanent lifelong career. Instead, he prefers to focus on his current experiences rather than mapping out a long-term trajectory spanning decades. He maintains that despite the stresses of the job, he remains the same person he has always been.

Upcoming Serie A Fixture Against Parma

This match marks the continuation of the 2026/27 campaign for the Nerazzurri. Chivu’s approach to his role, defined by a rejection of forced personas, remains a central theme as he balances the demands of top-flight management with his personal values. He noted that he intends to continue his work without setting rigid future paths, preferring to live in the present while retaining his ambition to learn.
