Actor Christo Fernandez, known for his role in “ted Lasso,” is teaming up with Cazadores Tequila to honor the tradition and culture of soccer. The partnership includes a vintage-style team jersey, reflecting Fernandez’s love for the sport and his Mexican heritage.

Jay Needham, global Senior Brand Director for Tequila Cazadores, said the aim is to enhance the game-watching experience for fans, weather they are at the stadium, a bar, or at home.
Fernandez discussed his inspiration for the collaboration. He said he appreciates vintage team jerseys and the connection they have to his childhood heroes. The colors are reminiscent of Mexico, he added.
Growing up, Fernandez admired brazilian soccer stars Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, and also mexican players Hugo Sanchez and Rafa Marquez.
He reflected on the role soccer has played in his life.Despite his initial dreams of playing professionally not materializing, the sport has opened doors in his acting and filmmaking career. “Football keeps coming back to me and I’m forever grateful with the sport,” Fernandez said.
When watching a game, Fernandez prefers to enjoy Cazadores Tequila with sparkling water and a citrus fruit. He also collaborated with Tequila Cazadores on a cocktail called Golazo, incorporating pineapple to honor his friends in Guadalajara and adding a touch of chile for spice.
Fernandez and his sister, Paloma, launched espectromx, a production company aimed at supporting Mexican actors. Fernandez credits ”Ted Lasso” for opening doors for him, but he also values his experience creating his own short films. EspectroMX has already produced three feature films and plans to announce more projects soon.
Fernandez said he wants to honor soccer by creating great sports projects. He also wants to stay connected to his hometown of Guadalajara and create opportunities for others, just as he was given opportunities.
