Croatian Sculpture Honors Health Workers at WHO⁢ Headquarters

The World Health association (WHO) accepted a donation of the bronze sculpture “Shape of Space” from Croatia, celebrating health workers ⁤and Dr. Andrija Štampar, the first president of the World Health Assembly. ⁤The sculpture, created by Ivan Kožarić, stands at the WHO ‌headquarters in Geneva.

Croatia launched the initiative to install‍ the sculpture in 2021, ⁤during the International Year of Health and ‌Care Workers, recognizing their vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2.5-meter sculpture is located at ⁣the main entrance of the WHO building.

WHO Director-General ‍Dr.Tedros ‍Adhanom Ghebreyesus hailed the sculpture as a symbol of solidarity. He said the donation reflects a commitment to honoring health workers’ dedication and⁤ advancing Dr. Štampar’s vision that health is a ⁤fundamental human right.
