Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have filed an official complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the conduct of the stadium DJ during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
The incident occurred during the April 5, 2026, clash held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Chennai franchise has alleged that its players were undermined and insulted
by the actions and remarks of the DJ throughout the game.
Controversy Over Stadium Music
A primary point of contention in the complaint is the playing of a specific track titled Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney
during the match. The song, composed by musician Gana Appu, has previously gained significant traction on social media and is frequently associated with memes involving South Indian stereotypes.
CSK management stated that the timing and context in which the song was played were inappropriate. The franchise viewed the usage of the track as an attempt to insult the team and its players.
Additional Grievances and Official Statements
Beyond the music, the complaint highlights the DJ’s verbal conduct. CSK took exception to specific remarks allegedly made by the DJ following the dismissals of Chennai players during the match.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that the franchise has written to the BCCI to investigate the matter. He noted that while DJs typically support the home team, the behavior at the Chinnaswamy Stadium exceeded acceptable limits.
The DJs are usually there to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering that, we have written to the BCCI to look into it.
Kasi Viswanathan, CSK CEO
A top IPL official has confirmed that the governing council has received the complaint from the Chennai franchise and is currently looking into the details of the incident.
Background and Context
The song in question had previously become a point of contention in the league. Last year, the track went viral after Jitesh Sharma was seen singing it, which subsequently led to trolling of the player by CSK fans.
According to reports, the Chennai franchise had intervened at that time to ensure that no such insulting remarks were directed at opposition players, a move that CSK management believes makes the current conduct of the RCB stadium DJ even more unacceptable.
The complaint emphasizes that stadium DJs should not make disparaging comments about opposition players, regardless of the home-team support environment.
