CUPRA has officially unveiled the Raval, a compact electric city car designed to target the affordable electric vehicle market in Europe. The vehicle represents a strategic expansion for the brand, serving as the first production model built on the Volkswagen Group’s new MEB+ platform.
The MEB+ architecture is designed to underpin a new generation of affordable electric cars across the Volkswagen Group portfolio, signaling a shift toward more accessible pricing for electric mobility in the B-segment.
Technical Specifications and Performance
The CUPRA Raval is positioned as a 100% urban electric car with a focus on dynamic design and performance. According to official specifications, the vehicle features a power output of 155kW, which equates to 211HP.
In terms of efficiency and range, the Raval offers an electric range of 446km, with some reports citing a range of up to 280 miles.
The exterior and interior design include several high-specification elements:
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Dinamica bucket seats
- Full LED lighting
- A total length of 4.05 metres
At 4.05 metres, the Raval is placed within Europe’s B-segment, making its dimensions comparable to models such as the SEAT Ibiza.
Development and Market Positioning
The production version of the Raval follows a four-year development cycle that began in 2021 with the introduction of the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept. This original concept featured aggressive aerodynamics and a touring car aesthetic, a spirit that CUPRA has maintained in the final production model.

The vehicle’s development included public testing and appearances at events such as the EV Experience at Circuit Zandvoort, as well as the use of camouflaged prototypes on public roads.
From a business perspective, the Raval is designed to compete in the affordable electric hot hatch market. It is positioned to challenge existing competitors such as the Mini Cooper Electric and the Alpine A290.
Launch Timeline and Pricing
The CUPRA Raval was officially revealed on April 9, 2026. The vehicle is scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom market during the summer of 2026.
Market analysis indicates the Raval is aimed at a lower price point than previous CUPRA offerings, with some reports suggesting a price point around £23,000, positioning it as a more accessible entry point into the brand’s ecosystem.
The launch of the Raval is viewed as a significant step for the Volkswagen Group’s strategy to capture the small electric car segment in Europe, with other brands within the group, such as Škoda, expected to follow with similar affordable electric offerings.
