Curry, a two-time NBA MVP, was struggling with his shooting form before the Olympics, but James, his teammate on Team USA, helped him regain his confidence.
In an interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Curry credited James for his support, saying, “A lot of positive self-talk… It’s all, we won, I’m doing my job, doing other things, setting good screens, playing hard and playing defense, but I know, at some point I need to make some shots, and that’s why I’m here.”
Curry also shared a story about how James boosted his confidence during an interview in Puerto Rico. “I remember when we got to Puerto Rico, I was being interviewed by a guy from the Bay Area, and he asked me the same question, ‘What’s wrong with your shooting? Are you worried about it? ‘ and I said, ‘No.”
“As soon as I finished speaking, LeBron James came up behind me and said in his little baritone voice, ‘That’s right!’ and I said, ‘Yes!’, which caught me off guard at first, Because I had to get used to liking that person because of all the fights we had, and now that we are fellow members of the team and friends, it’s definitely a confidence boost and ultimately came at the right time.”
