Cybersecurity Startup Twine Raises $12 Million for AI-Powered Identity Management Solutions
Cybersecurity startup Twine has raised $12 million in Seed funding. The round was co-led by Ten Eleven Ventures and Dell Technologies Capital. Co-founders of Wiz, Assaf Rappaport and Roy Reznik, also joined this funding effort.
Twine was founded in 2024 by Benny Porat (CEO), Nadav Erez (Technology), Omri Green (Go-To-Market), and Justin Woody (Marketing). All four were previously part of the core team at Claroty. Porat was a co-founder and CTO there. Additionally, Porat, Erez, and Green are graduates of Israel’s Intelligence Corps. Twine operates from offices in Tel Aviv and Seattle, employing over 20 people across Israel and the United States.
The cybersecurity sector has seen significant growth as threats and attacks increase due to cloud technology, remote work, and AI tools. However, there is a severe talent shortage. The World Economic Forum reports nearly 4 million unfilled cybersecurity positions. About 78% of cybersecurity leaders agree their organizations lack the skills needed to meet their objectives. This shortage increases risks and leads Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) to spend more time responding to issues rather than managing risks effectively.
What are some of the major challenges faced by cybersecurity teams today?
Interview with Benny Porat, CEO of Twine: The Future of Cybersecurity with AI-Driven Solutions
News Directory 3: Congratulations on raising $12 million in Seed funding! Can you tell us what the initial goals for Twine are following this investment?
Benny Porat: Thank you! Our main goal is to further develop our platform that provides digital employees designed to assist cybersecurity teams. This funding will help us enhance our technology, scale our team, and expand our impact in the cybersecurity sector.
News Directory 3: Twine’s approach involves automation in identity and access management. Why did you select this area as a focus?
Benny Porat: Identity Access Management (IAM) is a critical vulnerability in cybersecurity. Many breaches stem from malicious actors exploiting weak IAM practices. By focusing on this area, we aim to streamline and secure identity tasks, helping organizations protect their information more effectively.
News Directory 3: The cybersecurity industry faces a significant talent shortage. How does Twine plan to address this issue?
Benny Porat: The shortage of skilled professionals is a major concern. Our solution, digital employees, alleviates some of that pressure by automating repetitive tasks, allowing human teams to focus on more complex issues. We believe this human-machine collaboration is essential for improving efficiency.
News Directory 3: Can you tell us more about how Alex, your digital employee, works in practical terms?
Benny Porat: Alex manages identity tasks from end to end, ensuring that access rights are granted according to the least privilege principle. By automating these processes, we reduce the chances for human error and speed up the response time to potential threats, thereby increasing the overall security posture of organizations.
News Directory 3: As a company with roots in Israel’s intelligence sector, how does that influence your approach to cybersecurity?
Benny Porat: Our backgrounds in the Intelligence Corps give us unique insights into threat detection and mitigation. This experience informs our innovative thinking and allows us to create robust solutions that are rooted in real-world scenarios.
News Directory 3: what is your vision for the future of Twine and the cybersecurity landscape?
Benny Porat: Our vision is to create adaptive AI-driven cybersecurity employees tailored to meet each organization’s specific needs. We believe that by integrating advanced technology with human expertise, we can significantly enhance cybersecurity defenses across industries, ultimately making the digital world a safer place.
News Directory 3: Thank you, Benny, for sharing your insights. We look forward to seeing how Twine evolves in the coming years!
Twine’s platform provides digital employees that assist cybersecurity teams in meeting their security goals. The founders identified Identity Access Management (IAM) as a critical issue. Malicious actors often target IAM to gain system access. Twine’s digital employee, named Alex, manages identity tasks from start to finish. This helps organizations improve their efficiency.
“Our vision is to create AI digital cybersecurity employees that can meet each organization’s needs,” said CEO Benny Porat. “We believe cybersecurity teams seek solutions that improve efficiency and balance human and machine collaboration.”
