Cyclone Fengal Live Updates: Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast
Cyclone Fengal has started making landfall near Puducherry. This process is expected to take about four hours. As of 5:30 PM, the cyclone was located 60 km east-northeast of Puducherry, moving at 7 km/h. The forward sector of its spiral bands has reached land. Heavy rain is affecting parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Flight operations at Chennai airport are suspended until 4 AM on Sunday.
Education and Work Impact
The Tamil Nadu government has declared a holiday for all educational institutions across the state. IT companies are advised to allow employees to work from home. Public transportation services are suspended on the East Coast Road and Old Mahabalipuram Road.
Emergency Preparedness
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, reviewed the cyclone preparedness today. A total of 471 people from 164 families have been moved to six relief centers in Tiruvallur and Nagapattinam districts. For emergencies, boats, generators, and essential equipment are ready. The National Disaster Response Force and state rescue teams are deployed in vulnerable areas.
