Cynthia Erivo, Keanu Reeves Highlight 2025 Tony Awards

The 78th annual Tony Awards opened with a vibrant performance by Cynthia Erivo, the Wicked star and Tony winner, at Radio City Music Hall. Erivo’s opening number included assists from Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, and Adam Lambert.
Erivo also shared a lighthearted moment with Oprah Winfrey,recreating a popular meme featuring her Wicked co-star Ariana Grande.
Keanu reeves and Alex Winter, known for their roles in the Bill & Ted film series, made an appearance as presenters. The duo presented the award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress to Sarah Snook for The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Reeves and Winter are set to appear on Broadway in a revival of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the production begins previews Sept.13 and officially opens Sept.28 at the Hudson Theater. The limited engagement runs through Jan. 4,2026.
