The original Da Michele was established in Naples in 1906 and gained international recognition following a brief appearance in the 2010 film Eat Pray Love. The scene, lasting less than two minutes, proved sufficient “tinder” for the company’s expansion, now encompassing 80 locations across cities including Milan, London, Tokyo and Dubai, with Saudi Arabia boasting four franchises.

While the Sydney location attempts to replicate the dolce vita aesthetic, the reviewer noted a somewhat artificial quality to the ambiance, including a lingering Christmas tree in mid-January and portraits of Julia Roberts adorning the walls. However, the core product – the pizza – largely delivers.
