A Dongen couple, Joyce and Dirk van Tuijn, welcomed thier son, Daan, into the world in the early hours of New Year’s Day, making him potentially the first baby born in the province of Brabant in 2026. daan’s arrival came slightly ahead of Joyce’s due date of January 2nd.
A New Year’s Eve Delivery at ETZ
Daan was born at 4:13 AM in the maternity ward of the Elisabeth-TweeSteden Hospital (ETZ) in Tilburg. Joyce and Dirk spent New Year’s Eve together at the hospital, anticipating the arrival of their first child. Joyce expressed gratitude for the care provided by the ETZ staff.
choosing a Name
The couple shared that they selected the name Daan even before knowing the baby’s gender. “We compared it with other names when we found out we were having a boy, but Daan remained our preference,” Joyce said.
Family Celebrations Begin
The proud parents are planning to remain at the ETZ for one more night before returning home on Friday.Grandparents are invited to meet Daan this afternoon at the hospital.
Daan tipped the scales at 3730 grams (approximately 8.16 pounds) at birth.
