Damson Idris on “F1” Role and Early ​Brad Pitt Encounter

Before landing⁢ a role alongside Brad pitt in the upcoming “F1” movie,⁣ Damson Idris had a ⁣brief, unnoticed encounter with the Hollywood star.Years ​before achieving fame‍ in⁣ “Snowfall,” Idris worked as an usher at London’s Lyceum Theater.

Idris recounted ⁣seeing ​Pitt attend a performance of‌ “the Lion ‍King.” Working in​ the back⁣ of the theater that day, Idris only ⁢caught a glimpse of Pitt as he departed. “I⁢ just saw blond hair, cowboy⁤ boots​ and some blue jeans,” Idris said.

In‌ “F1,” Pitt ​plays Sonny Hayes, a mentor to Joshua Pearce, a rookie driver played by Idris.The British actor sees the opportunity to work with​ Pitt, director Joseph Kosinski, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer as a major career milestone. He emphasized the ​importance of his role in a film ⁣of this ‍scale.

“You ⁢rarely see people like myself on platforms ​of this size,” Idris said.⁣ “To go toe to toe⁢ on a movie of this magnitude, ⁣more ​doors will be broken down.”
