Popular NewsNation anchor Dan Abrams will be leaving his primetime slot in early 2024, citing the demands of his growing media empire.
Abrams,who hosts the network’s flagship 9 p.m. program “Dan Abrams Live,” announced his departure to viewers on Thursday night.
“I’ve reached the point where it’s unachievable to keep devoting the time needed for this show while also running and growing my other businesses,” Abrams said.
The multi-faceted media entrepreneur runs several successful ventures, including the media-industry website Mediaite and the spirits review platform Bottle Raiders. He also hosts a SiriusXM radio show, operates the Law & Crime Network, and contributes legal analysis to ABC News.
Abrams’ demanding schedule also includes hosting the popular weekend program “On Patrol Live.”
“I devote far more of my time to this show than anything else, and as hard as it is for me to admit, it’s just not practical to do this show all week while also running, and expanding, my businesses,” Abrams explained.
Despite his departure from the primetime lineup, Abrams is expected to remain a contributor to NewsNation.
Abrams joined NewsNation in 2021 and signed a multi-year deal with the network in 2023. His show initially aired at 8 p.m. before moving to the 9 p.m.slot to accommodate the arrival of former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo.
NewsNation, which also features prominent journalists like Elizabeth Vargas, leland Vittert, and ashleigh Banfield, has not yet announced a replacement for Abrams.He is expected to continue hosting “Dan Abrams Live” until February.
