Comings & goings
October 2025 saw critically important movement within the dance world, with promotions at New York City Ballet, new leadership roles at Charlotte Ballet and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, and continued recognition for rising stars.
New York City Ballet announced the promotion of six dancers to the rank of soloist: Victor Abreu, Dominika Afanasenkov, India Bradley, Naomi Corti, Mary Thomas MacKinnon, and Andres Zuniga. This promotion is particularly historic as India Bradley becomes the first African American female soloist in the company’s 90-year history.
Mthutzeli November, a 2022 ”25 to Watch” honoree, has been appointed resident choreographer of Charlotte Ballet. This role will see November creating new works and shaping the artistic direction of the company.His previous work has been praised for its innovative choreography and emotional depth.
Shayla-Vie Jenkins has been appointed rehearsal director at the Bill T. Jones/Arnie zane Company. Jenkins brings a wealth of experience as a dancer and educator to this crucial role, ensuring the continued integrity and artistic excellence of the company’s repertoire.
