Danhausen Expresses Frustrations to Tony Khan Over AEW Return: Status Update on His Contract

Danhausen Expresses Frustrations to Tony Khan Over AEW Return: Status Update on His Contract

November 18, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Entertainment

Danhausen, a unique character in wrestling, remains under contract with AEW despite no current creative plans for his return. He signed his original deal in January 2022, which is set to last until summer 2025.

Fightful reported that Danhausen and AEW have not communicated regularly for over six months, apart from obtaining permission for indie dates. After suffering a pectoral injury during the March 2023 Revolution event, Danhausen returned to AEW in late November. His comeback was promoted through vignettes, but he has only competed in three matches since and has not appeared on AEW television since December’s Worlds End event. He did have a match in February 2024 at a Ring of Honor show, where he won against Brandon Cutler.

There has been frustration on Danhausen’s part regarding the changes in plans for his return, which he has expressed directly to Tony Khan. Although he is willing to come back, his ideas for a return have not been accepted.

What impact has Danhausen’s⁤ limited involvement had on his career growth in AEW?

Interview with Wrestling Specialist on Danhausen’s AEW Status

Interviewer: Thank‌ you ‍for joining us today. We’re discussing Danhausen and his current situation with ‍AEW. Can you provide an overview of his contract status and recent developments?

Specialist: Absolutely, it’s a‍ complex situation. Danhausen, a⁢ character known‍ for his unique persona ‌in the wrestling world, is under contract with AEW until the summer⁤ of 2025. ⁣He signed this deal in January 2022, ‍but surprisingly, over ‍the last⁤ six months, there has been little communication regarding his role ‌within the company. Most of the interaction has been around getting ⁣clearance for independent dates.

Interviewer: There‌ seems to be a significant gap in his activity with AEW. What happened after his⁣ return in November⁤ 2023?

Specialist: ‌ Yes, ⁢after recovering from a pectoral injury ⁣that sidelined him following ⁢the March 2023 Revolution event, Danhausen made a much-anticipated return that‌ was heavily advertised through vignettes.⁢ Yet, he only participated in three matches post-return and has not graced AEW television since the Worlds End event in December.⁣ It’s puzzling considering ‌his fan base and his potential.

Interviewer: What’s‍ the reason behind this lack of ‍creative plans for Danhausen?

Specialist: Reports from Fightful⁤ indicate ‍that there’s been some frustration on Danhausen’s end due to the changes in his return plans, which he has directly communicated to AEW CEO Tony Khan.⁣ Despite his eagerness to return and present⁢ new ideas, it seems those concepts haven’t⁢ been greenlit by the company. This⁣ disconnect could be a contributing factor to his limited involvement with AEW.

Interviewer: In the meantime, how has Danhausen been keeping busy?

Specialist: Since his last appearance with AEW, Danhausen ⁢has stayed active in the wrestling scene, competing in over 50 matches across various promotions like GCW and ‍OTT. This suggests that while his AEW home may be quiet, he is still making a name for himself in other wrestling circles.

Interviewer: What could be next for Danhausen? Is there a potential path for him ‌back into AEW creatively?

Specialist: ‌ If AEW re-evaluates their current⁤ plans and recognizes Danhausen’s potential and ⁢fan appeal, there might be⁣ a way back for⁢ him. His‍ unique gimmick resonates well with fans, and it would be a missed opportunity not ⁣to⁣ capitalize on that. But⁢ for ⁢now, it largely hinges on conversations between him and ‌AEW’s creative team moving forward.

Interviewer: Thank you for your insights on Danhausen. It sounds like an intriguing situation to watch⁣ as ⁣it develops.

Specialist: ⁤Thank you ⁣for having me. It’s definitely a⁢ story to ⁤keep an eye on in the wrestling world!

Since his last AEW appearance, Danhausen participated in over 50 matches with various promotions, including GCW, OTT, and others.
