Daniel Ricciardo Sparks F1 Exit Rumors: ‘F1 Driver’ Vanishes from Instagram Profile
Daniel Ricciardo has removed the term “F1 driver” from his Instagram account, seemingly confirming rumours that he will be dropped from the RB Formula One team after a disappointing run in Singapore last weekend.
Ricciardo, who finished a disappointing 18th at the Singapore Grand Prix, appeared emotional in an interview despite setting the fastest lap of the race.
After the race, Ricciardo was asked about rumours that he might leave the team, saying: “I gave it my all. There wasn’t a fairytale ending, but I have to look back on what happened.”13 I’ve been here for about a year now and I’m proud of it.”
The Australian driver, nicknamed “Honey Badger” for his tenacity, was once proposed to replace Mexican driver Sergio Perez in the current F1 champion of Red Bull Racing. He was also supposed to renew his partnership with the current world champion Max Verstappen.
Red Bull Racing’s sister team, VCARB, is ready to let Ricciardo go in order to sign reserve driver Liam Lawson before the September deadline. After that, Lawson will become a free agent.
This deadline is said to have brought forward the decision, which was originally expected after the end of the season.
If the move goes ahead, Ricciardo will lose his F1 seat next year, a move that was imminent after McLaren bought out his contract and gave his seat to fellow Australian Oscar Piastri.
