From Child Star to Veterinary Technician

This wasn’t her only health battle. In 2014, Spencer received a diagnosis of breast cancer and bravely underwent a double mastectomy. She spoke openly about her experience, telling Black America Web, “With everything that I’ve been through with the spinal cord injury, I know God is not going to give me another affliction. So I was completely shocked when the doctors told me.” Her unwavering faith and positive outlook were evident even in the face of such a daunting diagnosis.
Further health complications arose in 2018 when Spencer suffered a brain bleed, requiring emergency surgery. Friends and fans rallied around her, raising over $10,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her medical expenses.Throughout each challenge, Spencer faced adversity with remarkable strength and grace.
A Legacy Beyond the Screen
In 2011, Spencer shared her life story in her memoir, Through The Fire… Journal of a child star.
