DapuStor and Memblaze Target Global Expansion Amid Enterprise SSD Market Growth
Updated May 28, 2025
Fueled by the demands of AI servers, the enterprise SSD (eSSD) market is experiencing rapid growth, outpacing the client SSD sector. While established vendors serve major cloud service providers, companies like DapuStor and Memblaze are strategically positioned to capitalize on the expanding eSSD market, notably within China.
The latest generation of products leverages Gen 5 controllers and eTLC NAND, offering significant performance gains over previous gen 4 drives. Simultaneously, manufacturers are racing to maximize capacity, utilizing QLC technology to create high-density drives, with some reaching 128 TB in a single enclosure. This push for both performance and capacity defines the current landscape of the enterprise SSD market.
DapuStor and Memblaze have been utilizing Marvell’s Bravera SC5 SSD controllers for their flagship drives. These controllers provide the flexibility needed to tailor specific features for their target market. At FMS 2024, both companies showcased their latest Gen 5 solutions.

Memblaze celebrated the sale of over 150,000 units of its PBlaze7 7940, which incorporates Micron’s 232L 3D eTLC and Marvell’s Bravera SC5 controller. This enterprise SSD, available in capacities up to 30.72 TB, delivers read speeds of 14 GBps and write speeds of 10 GBps, with random read/write performance reaching 2.8 million/720,000 IOPS,all while maintaining a typical power consumption below 16W. Its support for NVMe features earned Memblaze and marvell a “Best of Show” award.

DapuStor displayed its Haishen H5000 series, also powered by the Bravera SC5 controller, alongside a prototype 61.44 TB QLC SSD. This sample featured QLC flash memory.

DapuStor has invested in implementing flexible data placement (FDP) NVMe features into the firmware of this QLC SSD. The company also presented on using CXL memory expansion to store the FTL for high-capacity enterprise SSDs.
What’s next
With a strong foothold in the Chinese market, both DapuStor and Memblaze are now setting their sights on global expansion. Offering high-performance products and advanced features positions them well to compete in the growing eSSD growth segment.
